Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026 · Effective: May 2026

Skyfire Systems builds software for people who care about where their data goes. This policy is written to be read, not to obscure. If something is unclear, email us.

What we collect

We collect only what each product needs to function.

Velocity: If you enable crash reporting (opt-in, off by default), we collect anonymous crash logs stripped of all personally identifiable information before transmission. Logs include the exception type, stack trace, macOS version, and Velocity version. They do not include your Steam ID, game library, file paths, or any content from your machine. If you enable telemetry (opt-in, off by default), we collect aggregate session outcomes — which translation strategy was used and whether the session ran without errors. No game titles, playtime, or personal data.

Forge: We collect the data you enter into the product — machine records, job data, user accounts — to provide the service. This data is encrypted at rest and in transit. We do not analyse or sell your operational data.

FamilyCloud: Your media is stored on your own hardware. FamilyCloud is a self-hosted platform — Skyfire does not store your photos, videos, or files. If you configure a second location as a backup node, your data is replicated between your own hardware at each site. Account data (email, subscription status) is stored on our servers.

All products: If you create an account or purchase a licence, we store your email address, hashed payment information (handled by Stripe — we never see raw card numbers), and licence metadata. We use this to send transactional emails (receipts, licence keys, renewal reminders).

What we don't collect

We do not collect:

- Names, addresses, or phone numbers (unless you provide them for billing)
- Browsing history or cross-site tracking
- Advertising identifiers
- Location data
- The content of your files, media, or game library
- Keystroke data, clipboard contents, or screen recordings
- Any data from minors (our products require users to be 18+)

We do not run advertising networks and do not sell data to third parties. Skyfire products are ad-free.

How we use your data

We use collected data exclusively to:

1. Provide and improve the products you use
2. Send transactional emails you've requested (receipts, licence keys)
3. Diagnose and fix crashes (with your consent)
4. Understand aggregate product usage to guide development (with your consent)

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the products.

Data storage and security

All data transmitted between our products and servers uses TLS 1.3. Data at rest in our infrastructure is encrypted using AES-256.

Crash logs and telemetry data are stored on Cloudflare R2 in a private bucket accessible only to the Skyfire engineering team. Licence and account data is stored on servers in the United States.

We retain crash logs for 90 days, then delete them. Telemetry data is aggregated and anonymised before storage; individual events are deleted after 30 days. Account and licence data is retained for as long as you have an account.

Third-party services

We use a small number of third-party services:

Stripe — payment processing. Stripe handles all card data. We receive only a token and the last four digits of your card. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment data.

Cloudflare — hosting, CDN, and DNS. Traffic passes through Cloudflare's network. Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to network-level data.

Apple — our products are distributed via the Mac App Store and ad-hoc distribution. Apple's privacy policy applies to App Store transactions.

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or any other analytics platform on our marketing website or in our products.

You have the right to:

- Access the personal data we hold about you

- Export your data in a machine-readable format
