Three steps. No technical knowledge required.
Select your drive.
Connect the drive, card, or device. Recovery detects it and shows you what it can see. If the drive has errors, Recovery notes them before starting — it tells you what you're working with before anything happens.
Scan.
Recovery scans at three levels: first the filesystem (what was there, including deleted files), then unallocated space (files the filesystem no longer tracks but whose data is still on the drive), then fragmented reconstruction for files split across multiple areas of the drive. You watch the scan in real time.
Choose and save.
Browse the recovered files. Preview photos and documents before saving. Select what you want. Save to a different drive — never back to the same one you're recovering from. Done.
Some files aren't deleted — they're damaged. The video plays for ten seconds then stops. The ZIP won't open. The PDF is blank. Recovery has a separate repair engine for this.
Repaired files are saved separately from originals — you always have both.
ZIP / Office files
Rebuilds the central directory from local file headers. The ZIP can be opened; the Word or Excel file loads.
Reconstructs the cross-reference table so the document renders correctly from start to finish.
MP4 / MOV video
Locates and repairs the moov atom — the part that tells your video player how to read the file. The video plays again.
JPEG
Reconstructs valid markers around recoverable image data, giving you the best possible image from what's there.
Video files are large and complex. Recovery has specialized tools for them — and something new on the way.
Today
If you have a corrupted video and you have another copy somewhere — a backup drive, a cloud export, a second download — you can give Recovery that reference copy. Recovery fills the unreadable parts of the corrupted file from the reference, overlays the data it actually recovered on top, and gives you the best possible reconstruction.
Every part that came from the reference is clearly marked — you know exactly what was recovered versus filled in.

Recovery will extract a fingerprint from the readable portions of your corrupted video, search for a match automatically, and — when found — use that matched source to reconstruct the file without you having to find a reference copy yourself.

Drives write new data to 'empty' space over time, overwriting what was there. Don’t keep using the drive you need to recover from — every write makes recovery harder.
Recovery never writes to the drive you're scanning.
It reads only. Your original data is not changed while Recovery is working. This is not configurable — it's how the product works.
Some data is genuinely unrecoverable.
If space has been overwritten, it's gone. Recovery tells you what it found and its confidence level for each file. You decide what to save — nothing is forced.
