Obsidian's concept for Grounded was simple and strange: you've been shrunk to the size of an ant in a suburban backyard, and now you need to survive. The scale transforms the ordinary into the alien — a blade of grass is a tower, a spiderweb is a death trap, a garden hose is a highway. The survival loop is polished and satisfying solo, but the game reveals itself in co-op: four players building a base out of acorn caps and dandelion fibers, getting ambushed by a wolf spider, and barely making it back. Obsidian quietly made one of the best co-op survival games in years.
